The eldest of the four brothers disappears in the swamps far east of Blueheart. When the Kingdom of Lavu refuses to investigate, the phonautographs for Catatomeniumas and Stagouros are stolen in the dead of night.

Never to return...

When I woke up, I found that I had fallen asleep on the street. The rain hadn't stopped in the time that had passed, and I was sopping wet. I returned to the inn and found the people inside talking to each other, gossiping as usual. I found that I wasn't the only one to feel the presence in that odd past evening though. I talked to the soldier. He seemed to be feeling a lot better now, as he didn't look nearly as traumatized. He identified himself as Oscar, and told me that he and his group had been sent from Lavu the captial city to interfere with Blueheart's declaration of independence, as I had previously suspected. However, he said that when the soldiers had left the town, they saw a strange purple light that they followed across the Lavulese plains until they realized that they could not see on another in the darkness that was beginning to envelop them. Their vision began to blur, and soon they couldn't see anything and were in severe pain.
