i. Human Bradyzoites, Pt. 2 The eldest of the four brothers disappears in the swamps far east of Blueheart. When the Kingdom of Lavu refuses to investigate, the phonautographs for Catatomeniumas and Stagouros are stolen in the dead of night. ~ The loop is broken... Never to return... When I woke up, I found that I had fallen asleep on the street. The rain hadn't stopped in the time that had passed, and I was sopping wet. I returned to the inn and found the people inside talking to each other, gossiping as usual. I found that I wasn't the only one to feel the presence in that odd past evening though. I talked to the soldier. He seemed to be feeling a lot better now, as he didn't look nearly as traumatized. He identified himself as Oscar, and told me that he and his group had been sent from Lavu the captial city to interfere with Blueheart's declaration of independence, as I had previously suspected. However, he said that when the soldiers had left the town, they saw a strange purple light that they followed across the Lavulese plains until they realized that they could not see on another in the darkness that was beginning to envelop them. Their vision began to blur, and soon they couldn't see anything and were in severe pain.

ii. X: Catatomentiumas While they were in the blackness, a voice gave them information about what he referred to as "Degree 8". There were 8 Degrees total, and they went from 8 to 1. Degree 8 revolved around instinct, and it was what allowed individuals like Emeroch and Dränsilane to achieve biological perfection all those years ago. Ironically, there is a curse associated with every Degree, and Degree 8 speaks of an illness that spreads like acid through a wound. This, Oscar told me, was Gondii Maledicta, the disease that wiped out the Sharhodeon Territories until it was recolonized. Supposedly, invoking Degree 8 for the sake of one's own desires invokes its respective curse. That's what Oscar said to me, but I have no way to verify it.

iii. XII: Stagouros In any case, after the blackness, Oscar told me about a dreary wasteland that he saw and seemed able to fly through with the swiftest of speeds, as if he were a pulse of light. Over the course of exploring this land, he found nothing but grey waste. Eventually, he reached the sea and found an island in the middle of it. The isle still had foliage on it, and according to him, it didn't seem quite dead yet like everything else around it. There was still an ominous presence about it however. Then Oscar spotted two figures resting on the shore. He watched with an intense curiosity that he was unaware that he had before, and, before he knew it, it was nighttime. That's all he could remember, he said. The isle intrigued him, but he said that his focus should be elsewhere. Because of me helping him, he said that he would like to help me in return. He had grown weary of his role in the armed forces of Lavu, and thus felt it was appropriate for him to ally himself with me. I told him that a dear friend of mine had disappeared in Refeaël, and I need help finding him. He agreed, and soon become a close companion.
