xi. Zeffon The world was created from a purple star. From there came the creator. He fashioned a great many things. Of the things that he created, There are things you shall not know. You cannot know the route of your fate. You cannot know where else life is leading you. You can only exist with a clouded mind. You can only exist with a clouded head. The world was created from a purple star. From there came the creator. He fashioned a great many things. Through the rivers and forests that he crafted. He also created one other thing. That thing is the island. The island we call home. With the power of the Origins of Twenty Three. He created Unkardia. He is the darkness. He is the light. He is the darkness. He is the light. He is Unkardia. But also… Unkardia is he. You have no control over your fate, For the Creator is the land on which you till your soil.

xii. (unintelligible)+kerväkähstanderelictanmast+bath The drums continue to play in my head. Although I have many things to say, I must say as well that following the patrol tonight, I will be no more. I hate them all. The very Mandras that slyly coaxed me into their woods. The same Mandras that play on their accursed drums. It is because of them that I must die tonight, when the patrolman comes at night with his flashlight to oversee the murky night streets. I am sensitive to light, you see. The light that continues to shine through the cracks in my boarded-up windows causes me much agony, so I feel as though that I must die young. Not before describing my objects of terror in this journal. I was walking to Northane, the great castle that lies beyond the forest. The thing that always thrilled me about travelling to that location was the walk itself; it contained many pleasures that I had previously known, such as birds, the movement of water, and the wind in the trees. The Mandras were from Unkardia, but I don't think anyone knew that. In any case, they also happened to inhabit the bulk of the trees that filled those woods. It was noon, which is generally not the time of day the Mandras come out of their homes. However, a few were brave enough to talk to me. They are incredibly small people, no longer than my thumb. They told me they would like for me to visit their chief. I felt no obligation to do so, but given the circumstances of time (the sun was not about to set), I decided it was appropriate to wander off the beaten path and give them what they wanted. As I traveled through the foliage, I became aware of small shards of porcelain that were scattered amongst the weeds. Travelling further, I came across a porcelain head, a doll head to be exact. There was no telling what it was doing out here. Perhaps some child had left a doll in the woods? Against my better judgment, I kept following the Mandras until I came to a clearing. There, my jaw dropped. A tall man wearing tanned leather clothes was sitting in a wooden chair. My amazement stemmed from the sheer height that this man possessed - he must have been at least as tall as five horses stacked on top of each other... As a gazed upon his majesty, I suddenly realized that the sun was already setting. I tried to leave, but the man (whom I assumed was the large Mandra chief) beckoned me further into the woods. As I continued (I must have been in some sort of stupor), the trees began to seal off the sky, blotting out patches of light with their shade. Luminous fungi and insects crawled around in this shade, determined not to be exposed to the spots of sunlight that occasionally darted around the shadows like fast-moving ants. One unfortunate mushroom was exposed to one of these spots, and to my surprise, it shriveled instantly. As I followed the Mandra chief, he talked in a silky smooth voice about how the forest was infested by dolls. I didn't take him seriously at the time, but the dolls were to blame for the forest's decline. Eventually, we reached a clearing with a large luminous mushroom lighting the entirety of the space. There was not a speck of sunlight to be found; the sky was closed off with vines, branches, and thorns. The Mandras began to sing and chant as they piled into the clearing and began to dance around the mushroom. The Mandra chief stood by and watched. As their song began to pick up with what became a furious tempo, I suddenly fell asleep. From there, all was black. I woke up in the same place. The Mandras were gone. The mushroom had decayed and fallen into pieces. Yet somehow, I could see in the darkness perfectly. I then realized that I couldn't exit the clearing. The miniscule specks of sunlight were absolute horror to my eyes, causing them to burn with incredible intensity. As I ran out of the forest, my eyes burned so much that soon I was blind. I was found on the forest road later, apparently wailing in pain. That sums up what I was going to say. The patrolman continues here. I shall use this lantern to burn my residence. To the underworld with the Mandras and their mushroom lord Chyi! I still believe that the mushroom's name was Chyi. Post the patrolman's departure, I have decided to take a bath instead. I have the strangest urge to do so.

xv. Particle Ocean It was this day that Caria woke up from her dream. "Hello..." said a voice. Caria looked around and saw that her mother was watching her. After a swift embrace, the two began to discuss their trials that they had been through. Madeline, Caria's mother, looked pale. When Caria asked what was wrong, Madeline simply shook her head. "It's been a while since it happened, but your father is still trapped in Zeffon..." Caria hadn't heard of her father Ross in a long time. She began to use her psychic powers to try to reveal his location, but to no avail. "It's no use," said Madeline. "I've tried myself. The only people who could see into Zeffon nowadays are your aunt and grandmother. Your grandfather Kerragan is in the other room. He's remaining quiet on the subject. I suspect he knows something." "How would you know?" "He blocks my attempts to converse and read his mind. He wasn't born a psychic, but he sure has a strong will." "I'll talk to him," said Caria. She gave her mother a hug and went to find her grandfather. The old man was in a building in Ratayu known as the "observatory", her mind told her. Within minutes, Caria was knocking on its door. "Come in," said a voice. Opening the door, Caria found her grandfather Kerragan studying something in his hands. It looked like a glass box with green sparkling fluid in it. "Hello, Caria. Did you just wake up from your dream?" "I did," said Caria. "I saw a temple like the old ones in Unkardia. You know, the Silver Forest Temple? It was completely enveloped in trees." "I see." "Kerragan, mom says you know something about dad." "I do. He's trapped in the Chaoslands. Do you remember Dotajmari? The old ruined kingdom? He's there, but something's taken place since we left. Dränsilane, your great uncle, isn't pleased with being trapped in that dimension. He's trying to break free and invade Ratayu. I know your mother was trying to save him from the Darko in his soul, so I didn't tell her in fear that she'd go and confront Dränsilane. She cannot understand him the way he is now." "What do you mean by she cannot 'understand' him?"
16.
xvi. Untitled Forest Song Kerragan rubbed his face with his hand. "I should take you to the Forest of Shadow Memories outside of Ratayu, he said. "It's beyond the desert to the east. There, you'll be able to visualize the previous dimension in a way that you wouldn't before here." The journey to the east began the next day after Caria gathered some essentials to make the short journey east. After reaching the top of a sandy peak, the desert sand below the couple's feet began to transition to grass and shrubbery. As they continued to move, Caria noticed she was becoming sleepy. "You're tired, aren't you?" said Kerragan. Caria nodded. "The Forest of Shadow Memories puts anyone who is sensitive to the psychic fields to sleep. The better of a psychic you are, the more drowsy you become - and as you know, I'm not a psychic, but your grandmother is." Caria nodded a second time, suddenly slumping over and falling asleep.
17.
Chyi 02:06
xvii. Chyi A voice entered Caria's subconscious. "Where are you, Caria? It's cold here..." "Dad?" Caria's mind began to drift towards her lost father. Suddenly, another voice interjected through the void. "Don't try to find him, Caria. It's no use. He's already dead..." "Who are you? Get out of here! I want to talk to my dad!" The voice snickered. "I'm sure you do. But first, you must listen to me. There are certain numbers that you must avoid at all costs. First, avoid the number 48. Then, avoid 987. Finally, avoid 10,707." "What's that supposed to mean?" "Calm down, young one. I'm simply trying to protect you and your father. Those numbers have influence on your previous dimension. With Fair Tower abandoned, those forces have free reign over the dimension of Zeffon. Listen to my words - your father is as good as dead. Don't pursue him, as he will not make it out of Zeffon alive." "...How do I get to Zeffon again?" "...So you're not going to listen to me, huh? It would be good actually to ask Dränsilane himself. He knows a lot of the different aspects of Zeffon." "Where can I find him?" "You may not need to, Caria. He'll find you."
18.
xviii. Moldy Bathroom Caria began to have a vision. She was in Unkardia, and there was a red sunset. For some reason, when she approached the beauty of the fire-colored grass, she noticed that it was turning grey and withering. Then she saw him: Dränsilane was there, watching Caria quietly. "Caria?" Caria nodded. "Yes, that's my name." "Do you know about the sun, granddaughter of Unkardia?" "What about it?" "It seeks to consume everything that is on the earth. Remember that it is a dragon waiting to consume your spirit when you die. Thus, the cycle of being trapped in this world continues. As a king of Unkardia, I'm forever bound to make sure that all the spirits that die here make it to the next life. Bear in mind that once you die, as everyone will in the next dimension where Ratayu is, you'll return here to become an enemy of the sun." Caria noticed Dränsilane's skin was turning grey and beginning to crumble as stone. Dränsilane smirked. "Don't worry, I will return." Suddenly there was an eerie sound, like some sort of low screeching. Caria looked around and found that a lot of the trees and everything else was a hot blood red. "Prepare yourself," said Dränsilane. "It comes." "CARIA?" Caria woke from her dream and saw Kerragan standing over her. "Thank goodness. You've been sleeping for three hours. Did you see anything?" "I saw HIM, grandpa."
