lyrics

iv. Pioneer (Blood Bones Reprise)

I'm forced to work for the gentleman down the street, though. The only way I've been able to manage the high cost of rent in this district is by working there. I'm not at liberty to reveal what I've done there, but I will write this down: There are strange pipes lining the walls, with a strange sound emitting from each one. It's like each pipe has a mind of its own because I often see fluctuations in the pressure gauges, which has damaged our equipment in the past. This has resulted in discipline for all of us workers, though I'm not entirely sure we deserved it. I was working later at night, and the sound of shrill calls filled my ears. I promised my mother before she died that I would not let this job go too far, but I feel I've crossed the line somehow. Somewhere, somehow, I will die if I keep this up.
