Originally, the company was indeed a medical company that existed far in the future, but got caught up in the desire to control the natural resources that remained on Earth. That plus the desire for the effects of living in Oblivion were the key factors that started the war. Eventually, people began fighting because their relatives were dead, until there were no soldiers left to fight. Everyone else took up arms and there was war until what was then known as The Intervention.

There was a great modern society at one point. It was always felt that it was safe from any sort corruption. Its creators were thus given the title of "Pathier", derived from the term "pathfinder". Therefore, these people created a Kingdom meant to inspire the masses.
