about

Antarctic is about a civilization that popped up in the tundras to the south before it the climate turned arid and dry.

Yearning is about the loss of the civilization of Vorsanchu. After the abandonment of the original town, humanity was lost forever, with the exception of the the Antarctic civilization.

Dead Language refers to the loss of being able to communicate effectively after the loss of Vorsanchu.

Voice 67 is about Reve Isga's arrival to the new world from the world of Zeffon, and describes her grief when she realizes her daughter is dead. Being one of the last humans, she seeks shelter in a cliff side. From there, she lives another 45 years before she dies.

Wave Thoughts is about how the Antarctic civilization becomes cursed with the same thing that cursed the Zeffon civilization: the inability to conceive children.

Birdstream is a short piece about the peaceful death of the last king.

Abandoned Apprentice (By the Lake) refers to how the Antarctic civilization makes a public decree to kill each other as part of a ritual suicide. They figure they have nothing else to live for.

Death Fields refers to the Day of Death, where most of the remaining humans commit suicide.

Antarctic is a closing piece for the story of Zeffon.

Hands Are Tied is about a young child who manages to live. He knows one word and nothing about his name or origins. He crosses the southern Tundra and lives a long life before he passes away.
